Landscape & Nature

Fauna, Flora and Merryweather are the three fairy godmothers in Walt Disney’s 1959 animated version of Sleeping Beauty and the word “merryweather” always seems to pop out whenever I say “fauna and flora”. As a child I used to wish that I had a fairy godmother (I’m sure we all wished something of the sort), and now in writing this introduction I realised that in some way we all do indeed have one – our beautiful and bountiful planet. Just like the fairies in the story, our planet’s fauna, flora and (merry)weather are all elements that nurture and provide for us in some form or another. You’ll notice that I’m fond of inclement weather – it’s certainly the most interesting to photograph – and I’m happiest when wandering around the hills in the rain photographing  the fauna and flora in the landscape…
